Get ready to shop up a storm as you uncover antique treasures on this road trip that will lead you through seven of the region’s popular antique shops selling furniture, homeware, vintage clothing and accessories, vinyl and other curiosities.
Bungendore
Starting from Queanbeyan, get onto the Kings Highway to start your antiques road trip through Queanbeyan-Palerang. Your first destination is Bungendore, home to two antique shops and a quaint little op shop loved by the locals. First up, head to Deniston Cottage Antiques on Molonglo Street. Here, you will find pure Primitive Colonial Cedar and Pine furniture, electric lamps, antique prints and art, set in an 1878 stone cottage. Next up, make sure to pop by Phil’s Emporium Op Shop located in the Anglican Church Hall in Bungendore. On Saturday mornings, the venue also plays host to the Southern Harvest Farmers Market. Finally, get lost in the countless hidden gems of Village Antiques on Malbon Street. The massive shop specialises in timeless, antique furniture, homeware and gardening essentials from around the country.
Braidwood
After seeing what’s on offer in Bungendore, head back onto the Kings Highway to get to Braidwood. Here, you’ll be spoiled with four unique antique and vintage shops. Starting off from Elrington Street, you’ll arrive at Born Vintage Collectables & Oldwares where you can tour the rooms to find furniture, kitchenalia, glassware, porcelain and linen, as well as an eclectic display of clothing. Next up, head over to Braidwood Antiques on Wallace Street and peruse their collection of antiques and collectibles, as well as the range of vintage clothing on offer at the adjoining Vintage Drawer. From here, the itinerary will lead you to your final destination of the day, Gravitas Vintage, for a unique range of vintage, industrial, garden and architectural furniture and other quirky objects.
