About this event

Established Canberra artist Robyn Campbell will open an exhibition at Suki & Hugh Gallery on Saturday 17 October 2020.
The exhibition entitled Echoes will show new works in ceramics and glass.
‘The majority of the work for ‘Echoes’ has been produced over the last two years between family tragedies, environmental disasters and the pandemic. With all these things going on, my studio was my place to retreat and play. The result is a body of work which is almost completely new, though it contains all the elements on which I traditionally focus… texture, simplicity of form, and light’. – Robyn Campbell
Initially trained in glass at the School of Art, ANU, Robyn achieved a high level of success in her medium exhibiting widely both nationally and internationally. She received many accolades for her work including a three-month residency at the Creative Glass Centre of America in 1995.
After a pause in her professional art practice to focus on family, Robyn returned and since 2013 has focused on ceramics and more recently porcelain.
Inspired by the landscape and the natural world, Robyn creates sculptural objects where strong elements of texture and form invite closer investigation. Many of her works for this exhibition play with light; trapping, enclosing and reflecting in beautifully considered spaces.
