Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council welcomes visitors and residents to join and mark National Reconciliation Week by walking together through Queanbeyan in unity.
National Reconciliation Week (NRW) runs annually from 27 May – 3 June and the 2019 theme is ‘Grounded in truth. Walk together with courage.’
At the heart of reconciliation is the relationship between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme emphasises the truthful representation of Australia’s colonial past and the strengthening of respectful relationships as they move forward into the future.
NRW is a time for all Australians to learn about their shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of you can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
The Queanbeyan-Palerang Reconciliation Walk is a highly regarded, local event that attracts Australians from all backgrounds.
Students from schools around the region proudly represent their school and community on this important day.
The Walk is a public expression of support for meaningful reconciliation between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
