Luminescence Chamber Singers join forces Jess Green (electric guitar) with conductor Roland Peelman to explore the long tradition of devotional music for the virgin Mary and the many meanings of motherhood.
Music from the 14th Century until today, including Guillaume Dufay, Jacob Obrecht and Pierre de la Rue as well as contemporary composers Alice Chance, Andrew Ford/Kate Fagan, Gabriel Jackson, and a newly commissioned work by Jess Green.
Luminescence Chamber Singers is a 5 voice ensemble based in Ngunnawal country, Canberra, Australia. Luminescence gives voice to human experiences of all kinds, performing music from the Renaissance until today, and working often with contemporary composers.
Since 2015, Luminescence has performed extensively in Canberra and the surrounding regions, presenting an acclaimed annual concert program as well as appearing for a range of festivals, collaborations and special events. Recent highlights have included performances at the High Court of Australia, the National Portrait Gallery, and Parliament House, collaborations with many of Australia’s leading musicians, and appearances for the Enlighten Festival, Four Winds Festival, and the Canberra International Music Festival.
