Matriarch is a grunge rock band with a bit of a twist – four ‘mature’ women over the age of 50 who write and play loud, original and sometimes political music. Culprits are Lorena Quinlivan on vocals/guitar, Glenda Harvey on guitar/vocals, Lee Grunwald on bass and Leanne Thompson on drums.
Bridget Croft and Jenny Spear hail from the Canberra and southern NSW region of Australia as a duo called ‘What She’s Having’. Enamoured with old school country and 70’s rock, the duo is heavily influenced by the lyrical songwriting of Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and Townes Van Zandt.
