About this event

Luminescence Chamber Singers explore the perennial power of the female trio in myth and in music.

From the Three Graces to the Gundungurra dreaming story of the Three Sisters, when we meet women in myth they often come in threes. The Norse have the three Fatal Sisters. Hinduism has the Tridevi. In classical mythology we meet the Moirai, the Fates and the Furies. Across cultures and centuries women in threes bewitch and beguile. They are icons of fate, femininity, and the supernatural, and whether they appear as girls, goddesses, or ghosts, music is never too far from them.
In dolce cantavi, our own trio of women offer a contemporary take on this ancient trope, performing music for three female voices by Anne Cawrse, Alice Chance, Caroline Shaw, Gavin Bryars, and David Lang.
